A Warm Welcome
Puzzle
I built my cabin on the highest peak, perched right on the edge of the precipice. Last night, a blizzard struck, and I heard a frantic pounding at the door. I rushed to answer, swinging the heavy timber wide to let the traveler in, but the narrow ledge outside was empty. Confused, I closed it. Minutes later, the knocking came again, fainter this time. Again I flung the door open; again, nothing but swirling snow. By the third time, the knocking stopped forever. Today, the police found a body at the base of the cliff and charged me with murder.
Detective Hints
