Grandma's Harvest

When I was six, Grandma told me never to eat the yellow apples. When I was thirteen, she warned me against the green ones. At eighteen, she forbade me from touching the red apples. Now I am twenty, standing over her freshly dug grave. Looking down at the completely silent town below, I take a bite of a red apple and whisper, 'Thank you, Grandma. I can eat all of them now.'
