Late last night, I stopped at a dimly lit highway rest stop to use the restroom. Near the entrance, I saw a man standing completely still, a long, dark shadow trailing heavily behind him on the concrete. Startled, I kept my head down and hurried past. The next morning, the police showed up at my door. They demanded to know why I hadn't reported the dead body. I froze, suddenly realizing what I had actually walked past.
