Feeding Time

I carried the steaming offering into the beast's lair, finding the monster naked and vulnerable in its deep slumber. I didn't run. Instead, I excitedly flayed its skin and tossed the digital flesh to the thirty million hungry eyes watching from the void. The swarm feasted, chanting my name as a survivor, a hero who braved the lion's den. But when the beast awoke completely unharmed, the hunter became the prey, and the heavy steel of a cage slammed shut around me.
