Jack lives on the tenth floor, yet every evening he subjects himself to the dark, echoing stairwell. He rides the elevator only to the seventh floor, then drags his feet up the remaining three flights. But when the storms come and the rain pours, he bypasses the stairs entirely and rides the elevator straight to his door. Why?
