The Selfless Lie

I found a medical report hidden in my husband's safe proving that I am completely sterile. Instead of despair, I wept with overwhelming gratitude, realizing the beautiful, selfless lie he had told ten years ago. Today, as he excitedly carries our newly adopted son through the front door, I look into the baby's eyes and a cold dread washes over me. I finally realize my husband is a monster.
