Our gardener, Thomas, politely warned us that the backyard rose bed was 'still settling' and wasn't ready for visitors yet. Curious, my girlfriend sneaked out with a flashlight at midnight to take a peek. When I found her the next morning, she was lying dead in the dirt, her face frozen in an expression of pure, heart-stopping terror.
