The Elysium Cylinder
Puzzle
He acquired an infamous Victorian kaleidoscope, a heavy brass curio rumored to show its viewer a glimpse of Heaven. Peering into the tube for the first time, he frowned, complaining that the colored shards looked like writhing maggots. He turned it again and gasped, muttering about grotesque gargoyles clawing at his face. Determined, he twisted the bottom dial marked 'Elysium'. A serene smile spread across his face as he whispered about a breathtaking, endless shower of crimson rose petals. Still smiling, he slumped forward onto his mahogany desk, dead.
