The Commute

On a crowded commuter bus, a twenty-year-old man excitedly pressed his face against the window, bombarding the older man beside him with loud, bizarre questions. "Why are the trees running backwards?" he asked. "What color is the shirt I'm wearing?" A young couple sitting across the aisle snickered. "What's wrong with him? He acts like a toddler," the boyfriend whispered loudly. The older man turned to them and spoke a single sentence. The couple's smiles instantly drained from their faces, and a suffocating silence washed over the aisle.
