A Sister's Promise

For my 10th birthday, only my little sister was there to celebrate with me. Mom was still asleep in the bathtub; she had gotten quite bloated lately. Dad was on the dining table, staring straight ahead with a look of absolute terror. My little sister gently stroked my cheek and whispered, 'I can't wait for you to grow up... then we can get married.'
