The Bitter Rivals

Sarah, a ruthless executive, and Elena, her slacking subordinate, were the office's most infamous bitter rivals. After Sarah pushed Elena to the brink over a project, Elena publicly threatened to destroy her. Late that night, Elena called 911: she had found Sarah hanging from a silk scarf in her office. It looked like a suicide, but detectives found two glaring inconsistencies. First, forensics lifted Elena's fresh fingerprints off the dead woman's ankles. Second, Sarah's rigor-mortised hand wasn't clutching a suicide note, but a candid photo of Elena from a year ago. The picture was violently pierced right through the center. Police immediately arrested Elena for murder. She thrashed and screamed, fighting the cuffs, until a detective shoved the pierced photo in her face as evidence. Elena stared at it. Suddenly, she dropped to her knees, wailing in absolute, soul-shattering despair, offering no more resistance.
