The Family Séance

"Spirits of the shadow, spirits of the light... if you are with us, give us a sign." The three of them sit around the Ouija board in the dim parlor. The haggard man asks first, his fingers trembling on the planchette: "Is he truly gone forever?" The planchette glides to YES. He exhales a long, shaky breath of relief. The wealthy older woman asks next, her eyes gleaming with vanity: "Is it true? Will I never grow old?" The planchette glides to YES. She smiles, perfectly satisfied. The beautiful young wife asks last, her voice tight: "Does anyone know what I did in the bathroom that night?" The planchette glides to YES. She freezes in sheer terror. Before anyone can pull their hands away, the planchette begins to move forcefully on its own accord, spelling out a final, unasked message: D - O - Y - O - U - K - N - O - W - W - H - O - I - A - M
